We also used to keep the leeward barber tightened till the spinnaker boom was out in heavy winds to avoid the spinnaker to wonder around the front in downwind jibes. However not in sidewind jibes, cause the boat is more stabile while course is higher into the wind.
i can only sail a sunfish. then again i’m 14 and i’ve only done it once

Right!. Everybody turn your backs against the walls!.
I used to tack without hooking to the harness, but to hang on the handle with my hand while tightening the fock. I thought it was the fastest way to get out. Then after the fock was in order I had time to adjust myself to the trapez.
